How fucked am I if do BSc Econ at Manchester
I will be attending the University of Manchester come September as an international student. I would like to break into IB and just wondering what my chances are looking like. I don't mind doing a target MSc (provided i get in) but as of right now, do i stand a chance?
it's not bad - there are cases of people who made it and Manchester has a decent alumni base (especially if you expand it to include people born/raised in Manchester as well). Bulge brackets are possible (some evidence of that online).
Typical advice applies - network, know your technicals, read a lot about the industry, apply early, excel in numericals etc.
To really boost your odds, do some research and contact Oxford/Cambridge/LSE expressing interest in moving to join one of their classes in 2nd year. Hell, even if they ask you to repeat first year it's worth it. You only do bachelor's once.
Hey, thanks for your reply, appreciate all the advice. I haven’t considered a target uni or a higher semi to potentially transfer. I know transfer rarely happen in uk but I suppose it’s worth a try
Imho really low chances. I know a lot of people working in London but rarely if ever see University of Manchester.
Bro u got 0 chance tf its nom target + unknown i think just give up tbh i dont want to hurt u or smth bit theres no way u can get in even if u do a good master or whatever ur pretty fked up
It's not a complete non target (it's a semi), there are 10-15 students that make it every year to BB IB. After a bit of research and talking to people, it seems not a lot of people from Manchester want to to do IB but if you do, you still have a shot. Correct me if I'm wrong
Well, i mean…
85-90% come from top 5 target prestigious schools in uk look at linkedin the rest are bocconi hec etc
is this satire?
U should have worked good at school since the big inning like when j was 9-10 yo but u lost all jr chances now u need to assume the consequences try to do smth else
Maybe after 20 to 30 years of x professional experience u can become analyst at good firm (jefferies rbc or royal bank of Scotland)
Yea cheers mate
