How hard is it to get into Oxford MFE?
Hi,
I'm interested in applying for the MSc of Financial Economics at Oxford, but am having doubts as to how strong my profile is. I'm from an Asian university, with a 2:1 GPA (8.66 out of 10). My current GRE scores are 160 for verbal and 165 for Maths. I have 1 year of working experience as a financial analyst in an investment bank. Heard the admission process was competitive. I can work on my GRE scores but the GPA is already set ( I suppose it's around the lower end?) . Do I have a realistic chance at getting admitted into MFE?
The chance is very slim. UK schools hold firm on their requirements on GPA which is 3.5+. It is possible that majority of candidates actually have 3.7+. However, if you got 760+ on GMAT/ 330+ GRE, I would say it would compensate your GPA.
you have to get a top notch GMAT to compensate for the 2:1 as you may already assume a lot of the other applicants will have a first. depending on the quality of you bank and with a solid GMAT (e.g. 730+ should def do it) your chances may be good.
Hi, May I know if there is a big difference between 720&730, 730&750, 750&760?
