I think all of this information is on the CFAI website. The best study tool I feel is Schweser and Schweser Q Bank.

Most important question: how can I examine my personal circumstances to be 90–100% sure that CFA is the very-best use of my time (as opposed to maybe just studying an old curriculum aggressively at your freetime)?

If you don't want to do investment management / asset management, then it probably isn't the best use of your time. IB could care less about the CFA exam.

Are you aware that the phrase is 'couldn't care less' rather than 'could care less'?
