How to prep for MBA?

Now a second year analyst, have an offer on the table in investment management. Considering doing that 2/3 years to take a breather after 80/90 hours for 14 months, then do an MBA at an M7. Long term goals either MBB consultant or VC

Have a few questions: What type of initial work/reading should I do prior to studying for GMAT? How can I stand out? I had a 3.9 at semi, 3 internships (one at T1 non profit), two extracurricular leadership positions

I am also planning on hiring a MBA consultant to help me along the way but I realize I’m too early.

I highly recommend the Manhattan GMAT books. I did self study with those and was able to go from an initial score of 560 to 700 within a few months. The rest of your profile sounds solid, I think your experience and impact in your new role will be a key differentiator. Try to identify folks you would want reference letters early on and go out of your way to impress them. If you can get to a point where you're positively impacting overall returns or actively participating in IC decisions, that would be a solid bonus. Last but not least it wouldn't hurt to join a local volunteer opportunity, like financial education for underserved communities or similar program. Hope that helps and congrats on the new gig.
