How would Life/Health Insurance Sales work experience (1099 position) look when applying to top 10-20 MBA programs?

If someone did this for several years after college and was making 6 figures working for a big insurance company and also getting promoted, would this be good enough work experience to get into a good program? Or is there a lack of prestige in this job that would preclude you from top schools who may be looking more for finance/consulting/engineering experience?
