In (desperate) need of some career advice
Okay so eventually I want to work in real estate investment or finance but right now I don't know which school program I should choose. I am from Western Europe. Last year I obtained my BSc degree in real estate at a university of applied sciences. Went out looking for jobs in the RE investment/finance industry but found out pretty quickly they only work with people who have a MSc degree. This motivated me to also pursue a MSc degree.
I am currently accepted in 2 MSc in real estate programs but I don't know which one I should choose to get the best shot at a career in RE investments/finance.
First program is at a university in my home country. This program is full-time and is highly regarded in the industry. Starts of with a pre-master program and then the actual master program. This is basically the only MSc program I can enter in my home country (considering my BSc degree).
Second program is at a university of applied sciences (a fachhochschule) abroad. This program is part-time so besides studying my plan is to work a few days a week (I already have an offer from a bank to work 2 days a week as a working student). Because this program is abroad I don't really know how it's regarded in the industry. This program also offers the opportunity to obtain a second degree during an exchange semester but this also comes with some extra costs of course. I am really excited about this program because I think studying abroad is always good for your personal and professional development and it gives me the chance to build up an international network. Downsides of this program are the COL abroad (meaning I will lose all my savings + I have to take out a loan with my parents) and the fact that it's not a academic master but more a "professional" master (because it is taught at a university of applied sciences). I am scared that this might impact my career.
Both programs are taught in English and take 2 years to complete.
Does it, in the end, really matter if you graduate from a university or from a university of applied sciences? Curious about your thoughts/advice!
Kind regards,
An ambitious student with big dreams but with a lack of knowledge on how to achieve these dreams
I don't see how we are supposed to help you without more precise informations (country/school names). If you are not willing to disclose more (which is totally understandable) I'd advise that you put all the pros and cons in a tab to arbitrate because that's really about what YOU prefer at this point
