Office politics based on schools

I understand some groups could be more political than others, but wanted to see how bad my situation is...

Just accepted an offer for a 2025 summer associate position. The team is hiring two, and the other person is from the same MBA program as next year's staffer. Learned that the team historically had a 50% return rate...

There are few people on the team who went to my MBA, and none of them is more senior than the staffer.

I honestly think I'm in a bad position right now. Any thoughts/advice?
