IS BAT THAT BAD?

So today my school was kind enough to organize a free Bloomberg aptitude test and what with nothing else to do other than making fun of kids who take BAT from a distance, even contemplating throwing "loser" paper planes on them from a distance or trying to score the really hot chick invigilating the exam, I decided to sit in....

I had all the preconceived notions drilled into me by alum, internet( including WSO where BAT is thrown and stamped around) and the truth itself which ensured I never took the test seriously knowing very well that even a score of 800/800 meant nothing, a test which nobody knows about or worse cares....

But having taken the test and well...though I didn't turn out to be the cool guy who didn't care shit and still got a cent percentile ( rather got a shady 650, ensuring it never turns up on my resume/LinkedIn or my pick up line to pick chicks from Bloomberg) I am all thumbs up for this test.

1) unlike say GMAT, this tests your mettle in 8 different domains( divided into 2 buckets of knowledge based ( IB/Global Market/Chart Reading/Economics) and analytic based( Analytic reasoning/Math/News Analysis etc) so is a much more comprehensive test.

2) Though the questions were not exactly one which racked my brains out, but if the test difficulty goes a notch or two high across all sections, this might well be one of the most practical tests ever created relevant for a finance wannabe.

3) Though not sure if its good or down right stupid, but I got to know after the test that Bloomberg gives out section wise performance and that there are guys who just put the relevant score where they scored highest on their LinkedIn/ interviews. So good news for someone who is good at math, chart reading and say...reasoning, and they can be tracked accordingly in the BAT Talent search( if there is any recruiter who uses that is)

So all in all, if not stretching the analogy too far, isnt this the warren buffet moment when it comes to assessment test industry where we have a product( BAT) which is right now undervalued and possibly a butt of joke, but fundamentally have a strong product with a lot of potential and if developed well, maybe in say...5 years it can be the by default test score being asked by Finance companies and the go to test for every finance aspirant.

Am i making sense or should i rather turn my attention back to the "Legend of Steven Cohen- an insider secret"
