Johnson(Cornell) MBA no post-MBA Private Equity Recruitment?
Perhaps I'm mistaken in my observation, but I haven't noticed post-MBA private equity recruitment or anyone with an MBA from Cornell in the Private Equity scene. This is surprising, given that Cornell is an Ivy League institution; I had assumed that, despite not being part of the M7, it would have a stronger presence in this field.
The only MBAs with consistent PE placement are HSW. To a far lesser (negligible) degree you'll see people from Booth and CBS get offers. Those are either 1) people returning to their old funds post-MBA, 2) diversity, or 3) internationals with megafund experience transitioning to smaller US funds. Kellogg has a couple people in PE but it's really just people returning to their pre-MBA funds (i.e. struck out with HSW and likely took a full ride to Kellogg).
Cornell and the other MBAs just don't place to PE.
There are a few each year but it's usually only around 5-10 (class size ~300) and this varies each year. Most are international. Cornell is more of a IB/Consulting or tech + entrepreneurship school.
