LSE Msc Finance and Economics

Hi all,

Very curious about this program from a career outcomes perspective. Seems like it was intended as a pre-econ/finance phd course, but also curious to see if it has a good reputation industry wise. Seems like it has some pretty strong quantitative modules available so I imagine there could be good presence in S&T and macro HFs ? Very unsure so was hoping to hear some perspectives.

The LSE MSc Finance and Economics program is indeed known for its strong quantitative focus and is often considered a stepping stone for those pursuing PhDs in economics or finance. However, based on the most helpful WSO content, it also holds a solid reputation in the industry, particularly for roles in Sales & Trading (S&T) and macro-focused hedge funds (HFs).

The program's rigorous curriculum, which includes econometrics, advanced finance, and quantitative modules, equips graduates with the technical skills highly valued in these fields. While it may not be as directly career-focused as the LSE MSc Finance program, its strong academic foundation and LSE's brand name ensure good placement opportunities in both academia and the industry.

If you're aiming for roles in S&T or macro HFs, this program could be a strong fit, especially if you leverage its quantitative strengths and network effectively during your time at LSE.
