MBA background/entry points

Hi Everyone,

Brief summary of me. Graduated a few years ago (28 yo) from a top 20 undergrad in the states. Spent past 2 years working a dead end financial sales role. Looking to eventually apply to a top MBA program. Currently weighing my options for a career prior to applying to a top 10 MBA program, and would love advice. I am not picking the career to only get me into school. I want to enjoy what I do. I also want to set my application up as best as I can. I love living in the moment, but I still want an eye toward the future.

First job option is military. I can apply to become an officer with my undergrad degree, and it sounds exciting. I will be in the best shape of my life (again) while meeting interesting people, and will gain real leadership experience, and (I hear) lots of pipelines to MBA programs after. Downsides are obviously the risks associated, but I am not too worried about that. Part of the deal. (side note: does general enlisting offer the same MBA pathways as going in as an officer?) Why MBA in this case - it would reset my career, and allow me to transition out of the military into a new role, allowing me to explore different careers that I am currently unaware of.

Job two is working for my family business. I would have a leadership role, and would be leveraging my skills in a non finance related field. I would also have a guaranteed job after graduating from my MBA program, and would have time to study for my GMAT, as well as meet many influential people in my sector. Downside is obviously the family connection. Why MBA in this case - it would provide me with an enhanced understanding of how to manage/run my family business, but also provide introduction to other careers if I want to transition.

Would love to hear any and all advice on the above, and thank you for your input.
