MBA Summer Associate Training

Hi All,

I will be an MBA summer associate at an upper middle market investment bank and I wanted to see how I can best prepare for the role. Would TTS (Training The Street) be useful to prepare for the summer associate position or is that unnecessary? I have a near 100% understanding of the 400 (M&I) IB questions and I was able to go through my technical questions during my interview. However, I have read on WSO that IB Full-Time Associate training consists of Training the Street. So, I was wondering if TTS would be helpful for a summer associate?

Also, as an additional question what do MBA summer associates do? It seems based on prior WSO posts that you don't do any modeling or very little. It seems you don't need much knowledge beyond the 400 M&I (mergers and inquisitions) questions and powerpoint/excel (unless I am mistaken).

You're going to be working in PPT a bunch, if you are in the mood to do something then do some tutorials on PPT as it relates to finance. You probably won't have CIQ or FactSet plugins which you'll use a lot at work but you should be able to align things without going through too much pain. Quick access toolbar will be your friend, have one set up that you like. I would wait to start working through and ask an analyst or associate who you like to send you a snip of their QAT.

You're not going to be holding the pen on models and stuff. Just be as useful as you can, be nice to the analysts, and do your best to take work off their plate.
