McCombs MBA for Investment Banking

Howdy folks,

I’ve been considering going for an MBA to make a career switch into IB and am curious about the full-time McCombs MBA program. I currently work a back office role at a NG trading shop in Houston at an energy major. I graduated with a finance degree with a 4.0 GPA, albeit from a very small school in Texas and I believe I would have a good shot at getting admitted to McCombs. My goal has always been IB but there was zero chance straight out of undergrad due to my lackluster university.

Is a MBA from McCombs good enough to land me an IB job or should I attempt to gain acceptance from a M7/T15 school? Do I even stand a chance getting into an elite school?

Please give me the cold hard truth,

Thanks!

Note: I’m not picky in location for an IB role, more than anything I’m just desperate to break into the industry.

you prob can't go wrong with mccombs, rice (jones), mays, or smu though
