Memorable Stories From MBA Admission Interviews ?
I am a M7 alum and have been selected to interview prospective MBA candidates. 5 years out of school, kind of looking forward to checking out young blood. I am 33. School has obviously told me the list / type of questions they want me to provide feedback on. I interviewed with the adcom committee, so cant relate
anyways, that's not the point of this thread, any funny / memorable stories from your time as an MBA admissions interviewer or interviewee ? Felt like posting, thanks
usually any thread comparing bschool rankings is overflowing with comments, usually idiotic
kinda surprised no one has anything memorable to share on this ?
BTW, is it ok to ask which schools are your top choices?
Bump
Most folks here are probably applicants, not ex interviewers
I recently interviewed a girl. She was my first ever interviewee. I think I am going to have to reject her. Intelligent person, but didn't appear to have convincing reasons to do a MBA. She also was all over the place with respect to her career goals. Anyways, she seemed like a nice person, and it's actually hard for me to reject someone. I have done job interviews in the past, but those don't feel hard when it comes to rejection..
Which school are you doing interviews for? I recently did for my alma mater (Booth) and my God you have to remain focused during the 40-50 mins, which is hard... It obviously is so important to the candidates that to zoom out would be an EXTREME disservice to them. I have only done two interviews so far: passed a rejection on the first, and to the second I said, she was "nice, but not a standout".
Writing a 1-2 page interview report at the end is also time consuming....
