Midwest IB Target Schools

My chances of getting into Northwestern, Georgetown, and NYU (schools I applied to) are high. But so are their annual fees to attend. I live in Illinois, and other two options I'm considering are Indiana and Illinois. Do you consider those target schools? Do you believe it's worth is for my parents to pay some and myself to loan some, for my future down the road? - that is if I attend Northwestern or Georgetown which are target schools. So mainly, is Northwestern (like it better because it's in state for me) worth it? And are Indiana and Illinois target schools for IB? Are there any other target schools in Midwest, preferably less then 50k a year?

Georgetown should be #1 on your list out of all the schools you mentioned. If you don't want to spend the money, Indiana Kelley School of Business is great, places a lot of people into Investment Banking. A few things you should do: create a LinkedIn profile and look up alumni from these schools and see where they are working. Look up current juniors and seniors and see where they interned. Find out more about the finance clubs/investment banking clubs - find out what kind of stuff they do at the club (bring in Training the Street, case study competitions, etc.), and also find out where the members of the clubs place.

Only 17K? Definitely. I would steer away from Illinois for sure, good school, they place a few Investment Bankers but Kelley places much better. Go for Georgetown if it's only 17k more though. To put things into perspective, Centerview Partners recently started offering their 1st year analysts a 50K signing bonus. Bulge brackets recently increased base salary to 85k. There was another thread on here saying that Moelis increased it to 90k. Lazard started recruiting at Georgetown this year. Your chances at recruiting at these competitive firms are much higher than at Illinois, none of these firms recruit at Illinois. Although, Kelley places a lot, Georgetown definitely has a stronger brand/name both domestically and internationally. I work in MM IB doing M&A and have a lot of client interaction, including talking to a lot of prospective buyers, a lot of them being PE guys. I run into Georgetown alumni all the time. It is 17k a year, but the links even helped convincing my parents! My final three choices are Georgetown, Indiana (if I do get accepted into the IB workshop) and northwestern. Any other schools I should consider for IB?

Wash U has fantastic placement but is quite expensive and very selective
