Military Age MBA and IB

Hello, if this section of the forum isn’t the place for this please let me know.

Quick rundown of my profile: Age:27 Work experience: 1 year Role: Associate Attorney at a Top 5 personal injury firm GPA/GMAT: 3.4 from a top 50 UG (sociology) (law school focus was trial law and business law) and gmat target is reasonably a 730.

I’m currently a second year attorney at a top personal injury firm who spent the first year doing mostly support staff work. I know the end goal is the MBA with a strong preference for IB as my outcome. It is not about the money as I could achieve similar compensation in the same time frame at my current role. I just find myself enjoying reading about the financial world more than I do the legal world and would rather work in that field.

I know I could carry on my current path and apply in the next cycle or two for a MBA, but lately I’ve been thinking of joining the army. Reasons for this are more personal that professional but goal MOS would be Infantry Officer or finance officer. However this plan would put my entry into my MBA at age 32 and my age at graduation 34. Work experience would be between 5-6 years.

My question is would pursuing this plan hurt my chances of a M7 or T25 MBA, and then a career in IB? I know sometimes military experience can be a benefit in some circumstances but I worry my age would negate this.

As a side note, is there any possibility I could recruit as an analyst still? Both my UG and law school do place in IB in my local Texas market.
