Mitigating my Major and Lack of Exp
I'm about to graduate with a 3.8 w/political science degree at a average state school. I thought i wanted to go to law school , but the thought depresses me. Also, I do not have much work experience other than serving in the army as a private for a year (due to circumstance). I have the itch to go back in the army as a combat arms officer and get out as captain. Of the top MBA programs, would i likely be accepted to any of them, considering i do well ?
very limited shot with not a lot of work experience for top MBAs. could possibly do MSF
Go back to the army and kill the GMAT and you have a shot at all the top MBA programs. They love those who are armed.
Are you being serious about armed? I've considered going the navy submarine route.
If you're good enough to get into submarines you're good for top MBA programs. I thought they went primarily for engineering types though.
Yea I'm sure they do. I think they have an exam that measures aptitude in certain areas. I'm pretty strong in math. I really just want to choose the military career that wil give me the best chance of getting into a good program. I don't mind going the armed route though, artillery is what interests me the most
There are MANY veterans at Top 25 schools, of all service types. Don't focus on which service sets you up for an MBA (for too many reasons to type); focus on which service you would actually want to be in and where you could do well. The rest will take care of itself.
Thank y'all for the replies. It seems as if the business world is much happier and optimistic than the legal world. I'm really looking forward to jumping in.
