MSc Finance at Warwick or UCL?

Hello,

Right now I am at a crossroads. I have received offers from both UCL and Warwick for their MSc Finance courses and am struggling on which one to choose.

For context, I am currently coming from a non target studying BSc Economics and Finance and recently just graduating with a First. Unfortunately I haven't secured any internships during my undergrad. Hoping doing this masters can help me land an internship/ grad scheme? I am also a domestic student.

Applied to LSE, Imperial and LBS but they have all rejected me, so the above are only my choices.

As for both Unis, rankings wise Warwick is low semi target whilst UCL is much newer and isn't generally ranked. However UCL is based in London so there are much better opportunities in networking.

I need to decide by August end. Any help is really appreciated!

People will see the brand sticker (Warwick or UCL) and that's 99% of the conversation. UCL is maybe a marginally better brand (I say as a UCL grad), but they're not that different.

Choose based on whether you'd rather study at UCL in London, or Warwick in Coventry (ish).

Your professional success will depend a lot more on your actions at university than being at UCL or Warwick. Your personal enjoyment will depend heavily on the choice, and they are very different experiences.

I see thanks for your reply. From what you have written along with the other comments, I think UCL would be the way to go along with prioritising networking and applications.

UCL has the better rep in terms of brand, Warwick is the better course probably. To be blunt, without any internships and with a non-target UG it will be very hard to break in from a UCL/ WW MSc unless diversity

Yeah I understand that. I am trying to apply for internships this coming round as my top priority. Thanks for your help.

Definitely UCL in terms of prestige and proximity to London, hence convenient for networking/interviews in the future. I did both my bsc and msc at the LSE and I'd say UCL finance is pretty much equivalent or better than MSc A&F.
