MSc Finance - Do you need a MBA?
If you have banking experience can you go into a associate program with an MSc in Finance or do you need a MBA. Do any firms accept apps from those with an MSc in Finance
where did you go to school?
LSE (London School of Economics). I am considering doing a masters at LSE. I have a BSc from Kings College, University of London in Engineering. Also a graduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance from LSE. I have work experience in Banking, so am considering doing a part-time MSc while I work from LSE to apply for an associate role. Will this help to get onto the associate scheme or do i need an MBA from a top school.
Yea I'm considering the same. I've got a Bcom Honours in Finance and Econ from Mcgill University and considering the 1yr MSc program. But I'm getting mixed signals about it.
The fact it is one year makes it looked down upon apparently.
if u can break into investment banking via MSc it seems more viable as mostly they r one yr programs n cheaper n easier to get into..me also considering an MSc but confused..

I'm also considering doing the diploma in accounting in finance from LSE, as a means to break into ibanking? Is this is a viable route into the industry?
I worked on an Options desk and there were traders there who were considered the best at the firm. They had done the equivalent at Chicago and they gave me the sense that all lot of their class-mates ended up in Trading roles.
You do not need an MBA if you get an MSc...although its much more difficult to get into the recruiting cycle.
