MSF Pick 2025
So I've been accepted to several MSF programs and I'm trying to pick the best one. I got: WUSTL (AM concentration) with $45k scholarship, Emory with $25k, BC with $10k, and I'm still waiting on USCs MSF. I'm also waitlisted at UCLA for their MQE program. I want to find a ft role in AM/WM or maybe ER, not really looking at any IB roles. What do you think is the best option?
Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's how you can evaluate your options:
WUSTL (AM concentration): With a $45k scholarship, WUSTL's MSF program is a strong contender, especially for Asset Management (AM). The program has a solid reputation for AM placements, and the scholarship significantly reduces your financial burden. If AM is your primary goal, this program aligns well with your career aspirations.
Emory ($25k scholarship): Emory's MSF program is well-regarded, particularly for its strong alumni network and placement opportunities in the Southeast. However, with a smaller scholarship compared to WUSTL, the cost-benefit might not be as favorable unless you have a specific preference for the region or connections there.
Boston College (BC) ($10k scholarship): BC's MSF program is known for its strong presence in the Northeast, particularly in Boston and NYC. However, the smaller scholarship and potentially higher cost might make it less attractive compared to WUSTL or Emory unless you have a strong preference for the Northeast market.
USC MSF (Pending): If you get into USC, it could be a great option, especially if you're targeting the West Coast. USC has a growing reputation and strong ties to the finance industry in Los Angeles. However, without knowing the scholarship or financial aid details, it's hard to compare directly.
UCLA MQE (Waitlisted): While the MQE program at UCLA is more quantitative and economics-focused, it could still be a good fit for roles in AM or ER, especially if you're targeting the West Coast. If you get off the waitlist, consider the program's cost and how well it aligns with your career goals.
Recommendation:
Good luck with your decision!
