MSF with work experience
I know most MSF programs don't require work experience, but I was wondering if anyone had any insight about doing an MSF program with 1-2 yrs of prior work experience and how that impacted recruiting for analyst positions. My goal is to break into banking (either Houston or NYC would be fine with me); however, I'm unsure whether having that sort of a work experience coming out of an MSF program would put me at a disadvantage or not.
For context, I am on my last semester at a non-target for FO (3.6+ GPA), and having OCR is the reason why I'm looking at some of these programs. Though the position I am set to take upon graduation will allow me to gain a transferable skillset, I am afraid that my educational background would put me at too big of a disadvantage for IB analyst recruiting later on (also, I'd like to get an MBA from a T15 school, and I feel like getting an MSF would help with admissions).
As I mentioned, if possible, I'd like to break in at an analyst level, which is why I am not considering getting more experience, doing an MBA and then going into banking as an associate. Thank you in advance.
