Northeastern MSF

I'm considering applying to Northeastern for the MSF there.

As many of the programs are regional and employment relies heavily on name brands, especially in IB, what are people's thoughts on the program?

Is it any good?

How does it compare to BU, BC?

How does it place in NYC, Washington?

Thoughts would be appreciated!

If you are looking at IBD I would not consider NU. Can you break in? sure (I used their coop program to network into an SA), but you will have an easier time from an actual target. You mentioned BC- if you can get in here you are far better off for IBD relative to your chances from NU... although still not great. I would not be surprised if you could count the number of NU kids in IBD on one hand. That said, they do have two partners at GS- one in Global Investment Research and another in Global Securities Services (prime brokerage.) Yep... this makes the news at our school.

Boston is the mecca of the mutual fund world. If you're looking to go the PM route, plenty of opportunities. Undergrad has a great coop program and I'm pretty sure it places well for masters programs as well.

If you are married to Boston then Northeastern isn't too bad. I would rank Boston MSF's like this.

MIT>>BC>>Brandeis/Bentley/Northeastern>>Suffolk, etc
