Not joining a frat at UVA

Considering UVA (and eventually McIntire) for undergrad. If I were to be admitted and attend, would I have to join a frat to get a job on the street? At this moment in time, I really don't want to join a frat or be involved with greek life. Maybe that will change as college actually begins, but through my current decision process a heavy greek life presence is more of a con than a pro.

Is UVA McIntire good enough to get placed into NYC finance without being in a frat, or are placements done through that whole "brotherhood for life" bullshit?

You're overestimating the value of a fraternity man... I am a member of one but it has done little to nothing in assisting me to acquire a job.

One thing I can speak to is the fact that -- at least in my case and those close to me -- it fine tunes your social skills making interviews and other important personal interactions a lot easier and less awkward. It also offers an opportunity for you to relate to others on the job.

With that being said, from a purely connections oriented standpoint, fraternities are often overrated and will only rarely help to get your foot in the door let alone be the deciding factor in whether or not you are extended a job offer.
