NYU Econ for breaking into a Bulge Bracket Investment Bank?

I just finished my freshman year at Babson College, concentrating in Finance. Since Babson does not have on-campus recruiting events from any bulge bracket banks and is considered a non-target, I applied to NYU CAS Econ for its better name/location (my goal is to work at a bulge bracket in NYC). I heard NYU econ students can sometimes gain access to Stern resources like recruiting events and taking Stern classes. If I get into NYU Econ, should I transfer? How has NYU Econ done in banking recruitment over the past few years? Since Babson is a non-target, would NYU econ be an upgrade even though it is not NYU Stern? Thanks!

If you want to go to NYU, you should go. Stern or not, OCR or not, you have the NYU brand and are in the city so you're in the vicinity and able to intern off-season and network profusely. You can make up for the "non-target" aspect by playing the game... I can't speak to the stern split on OCR/etc but the rest is true and stands. I'm sure there are tons of Stern alumni on WSO who would be happy to comment.

As someone who goes to Stern, I can attest that CAS Econ kids still get interviews. Obviously not gonna be BB/EB since that's hard enough for Stern students, but I had a buddy in CAS who had no problem getting the same interviews at MM's that I did.
