NYU SCPS program ( full time) for career in consulting in NY

Hello,

I came across the MS in Management and Systems program offered by NYU 's School of Professional Studies.. It's a one or two year program and you can specialize in enterprise risk management or strategy and leadership. Does the SCPS have the value that NYU generally has (for example Stern is a top notch brand)? I already have an admit from Illinois Urbana Champaign for the MS Finance program, and they do place in consulting sometimes ,but mostly IBD, and that too in the Midwest. Would I still be better off at UIUC then in the MS in Management at NYU SCPS? Pros : location NY Cons : brand value?

profession studies schools generally don't have the best of reputation, no matter the school i think that unless you already have some solid contacts in new york, you should go to urbana

even though it's a degree in finance, it should have some decent recruiting on campus for shops in chicago, and if new york is your ultimate goal, you could always consider lateraling

I second the notion that SCPS is seen through a shit-colored lens among NYU students and alum. You wouldn't touch Stern's buildings, services or faculty, and probably will be stuck in less technologically up-to-date buildings than the anthropology department (which is awful). Some SCPS classes meet in midtown by Bryant Park, some by a Synagogue in the Village. Many mid-career professionals, and a few students from backgrounds that couldn't get into their liberal arts, business, arts or education graduate programs.

As an NYU student, I'll second that it's shit. I've only used it for noncredit free classes...I'd never pay tuition for SCPS - not worth it.
