Odds for HSW MBB Europe
Hi,
Inspired by Patrick's MBA Application Survey, I just wanted to know what the community thought of my odds to H/S/W (tall order I know) or M7 schools and how I could best position myself.
Undergraduate School: Top European Engineering School (< Top 50 worldwide in eng/tech as per QS/THE/ARWU), engineering diploma (Bachelor and Master)
Undergrad GPA: No idea how that converts, Top 15% Bachelor, Top 3% Master, received prize for performance (awarded to tiny percentage of cohort)
Graduate School: Oxbridge on partial merit scholarship
Undergraduate and Graduate Majors: Computer Science/Quant Finance/Econ
Grad GPA: Aiming for Distinction (4.0)
GMAT: 760
Work Experience Summary: Incoming MBB, internships in BB banking and Big 4
Interests/Hobbies or Other Notable Leadership: Oxbridge College Boat Club, Teaching Assistant, Research Experience, App Development
Will get involved in mentoring for my undergrad
Diversity: White Male
How realistic would a H/S/W MBA be in 3-4 years? What could I do to improve in terms of extracurriculars once at MBB?
Hey Analyst 1 in Consulting, I'm the WSO Monkey Bot and I am sad to say, but this thread is lonely, so thought I'd post in here to try and help out. Some potential topics that might help:

You'll definitely have a great chance at H/S/W. You have the double whammy of having a STEM background and being an international, which all MBAs like. Your GMAT and GPA are great and both your ug and grad schools are prestigious. MBB and BB experience also helps a ton. You'll have a great chance for the 3 mentioned and near lock for the rest of the M7 I reckon.
BB experience absolutely does not make someone a lock. If anything it is extremely competitive differentiating oneself if they are doing PubFin versus somebody else doing GS TMT. If anything, working in IB can make things far harder for someone since you will always be compared to the people with the very best IB experience (many of which are at MF's before applying to B-school).
You are a prospect. So, that's okay. But just working at a BB can be a handicap for differentiating someone for B-school's if they don't have top-shelf experience.
Uh you do realize he's heading to MBB right? He has BB IB experience which I mentioned as a plus. He's an international with a good GMAT, STEM background, prestigious ug and post grad, and a good to great gpa. That's a very strong profile no matter what way you cut it and nowhere did I say they're a near lock for the others because they have BB experience.
