PE after MBA

Hello monkeys,

Like many PE associates, I’m considering going the business school route. I know there’s a ton of things to consider and have been speaking to mentors to weight my options, but one thing I don’t have good insight on is how hard it is to land a post-MBA PE role coming out of H/W/S. These are arguably the best schools to be and I’m not discounting the difficulty of even getting in.

What I’m wondering is: for those with pre-MBA PE experience at a reputable MM shop, is common to find a relatively comparable role after graduation? Or are the few seats available usually gobbled up by those coming out of MF / UMM? If forced to downsize to a LMM it may be better for me to recruit directly which is where my curiosity stems from.

Thanks in advance!
