Post-MBA VP?
I work at a mid-tier investment bank and am considering a MBA and then to work in growth equity on the flip side. However - is it possible if I do not get a (good) growth equity job after a MBA - I can join a top tier investment bank as a VP? Are there examples of post-MBA VPs?
Hey rob_green, I think you deserve a response...heck, everyone does. We're listening, sorry about the delay ...my best guess at places on WSO that could help:

Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
Almost unheard of. I think I've seen one example of it but it was a third year associate being sponsored by the bank and coming back as a VP. Sample size is small because not many people in IB get an MBA then go back to IB. If you were an associate at say JPM pre-MBA then wanted to be a VP at MS post-MBA, maybe then I'd say it'd be feasible but you also don't need an MBA for that.
I've had a couple of these situations while conducting recruiting for my bank, where someone who worked at a smaller but somewhat well-known IB as a second year associate insisting he could come in as a VP, and someone who did an internship junior summer in IB saying they should come in as at least a second year associate. Both such off-putting conversations to have tbh and made me much less likely to want to pass them on.
