Public Finance MBA Advice
Would a Public Finance Investment Banking Analyst be put in the same applicant "buckets" as M&A Investment Banking Analysts?
I ask because Public Finance is so different that some banks just consider it to be a "Public Finance Analyst" position instead of an Investment Banking Analyst.
I have a unique offer from a bank that is not well known within the high finance sector; however, they are aggressively growing their public finance group and are bringing me on at the early stages of this growth.
I would be working for a very experienced senior banker; however, I will not have the large BB name on my application. (It would be possible for me to wait and get a BB PF position based on the position I currently hold; however, this position seems to be very attractive because there is an entrepreneurial aspect to the job since I would be helping them grow.)
Would this entrepreneurial aspect of the job be enough to overcome the lack of prestige of not having a BB name when applying to MBAs? I would like to attend a top 10 program (Ideally M7); however, am worried that accepting this offer will eliminate those chances.
