Requisite Knowledge for AM Analyst & Online Courses

I am a recent college graduate interested in getting an analyst position within AM. I have extensive knowledge of economics, a decent statistics background, however, I have no prior finance-related internship experience and my finance and accounting knowledge are less robust than my economics knowledge. Additionally, my technical skills extend only to Excel/STATA/SPSS. I am thinking it would be a good idea to invest my time in taking online courses to improve my knowledge of finance and accounting, as well as learning fundamentals of Python (or SQL, R, etc...). My questions:

  1. What are the specific areas of knowledge requisite for entry into AM?
  2. Are there online courses or websites that are best suited to attain it?
  3. What technical skills (Python, Excel, Financial Modeling, etc...) will give me the best competitive advantage?
