Should I apply for masters in finance programs with my 337 GRE

I’m a year in as an analyst at a boutique IB firm in Canada (we’re decently known here and have multiple offices). I went to UofT and studied HBsc financial economics (GPA: 3.54) —a STEM program, though calling it STEM might be a bit of a reach.

I wrote the GRE yesterday and scored a 337 (170Q, 167V). Wasn’t planning to use it for another 2 years (for an MBA), but now I’m thinking about applying to master in finance programs at MIT, Princeton, Oxford, or Cambridge. The cost and income loss (probably around C$150k pre tax and a little more than half post tax) are big considerations. Should I go for it, and if I get in, should I attend? Or should I stick with the IB route, lateral to a bigger firm, and then jump ship later?

Not really sure what I want to do, but maybe these programs could help me figure it out. One thing’s for sure—I’m not going back to IB as an analyst after these programs. I’d look at other options like PE/VC/HF (though I might be too stupid for HF). Also if I do one of these programs that would most likely be the end of my further education - I don’t see myself doing a masters of finance and an  MBA financial speaking. Though if you think I should do both would be interested to know why.

MIT, Pton, Ox can get you to some more quantitative positions if that is what you are after. Cambridge less so imo.

Doing both wouldn't be a great idea, unless you have a firm paying for it. You are rightly focused for IB either lateralling then taking something on the buyside. Unless you want to do something more quanty I think this is just of good an option for someone in your position, then waiting for the MBA

My best suggestion is going on Linkedin and looking at alumnus from the programs, seeing if any of their paths interest you.
