SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise)

Hey, I'm just wondering if there are any people out there who are either involved in SIFE or are SIFE Alumni. If you don't know what it is, you can check out www.sife.org. I think it's a great organisation, and founding my University's branch of SIFE is probably the main reason I landed an IB internship this summer. Any other IB SIFE people out there? Any other comments on SIFE from recruiters, etc, is very welcome.

I'm a SIFE member at my school and it is a great organization. I've had some great experiences with it. I would recommend it to anyone.

Just wondering if you have any project ideas that you've been harboring for years and years and wouldn't mind sharing the idea. We're always looking for new and innovative ideas to build from, so maybe your old dreams (or new dreams) can become reality.

one thing i did was give a presentation about personal finance to about 50 students at my school. we are also working on an entreprenuerial fair for spring '07 for the hudson valley. we are expected close to 1,000 people to attend during that weekend. basically, anything that helps to improve the economic situation around your area will be a great project.

Member for 4 years now, heavily involved in the outset, not so much now.

If you are heavily involved in the org, does wonders for the resume, lots of good action-results oriented stuff.

The thing I don't like about SIFE is the focus on reach, presenting personal finance to 1000 people is way over done. Think it would be a much greater impact if there was a project where the SIFE team worked with the 5 people over the course of a couple months (think battered women's shelter, homeless shelter), and walked them through the life/job skills process: resumes, cover letters, developing marketable skills, interviewing techniques, succeeding in jobs, etc, and helping them find and maintain a job. Smaller focus, but much greater impact.
