Sophomore Transferring from Top 10 school to Target or Semi Target - For Investment Banking

Hello,

So I am a sophomore that goes to about the only Top 10 school that is a non-target or barely a semi-target.  I am trying to get into banking so I can exit into VC/PE in a specific area I wont say to maintain some anonymity. I am actually a transfer student but as days go by and obstacles continue to preserve, I worry I made the wrong choice. This school was the best for many reason outside of just career prospects. But, I didn't anticipate the political and racial nuances that would make joining some organizations so hard. There are literally like 3 finance related clubs and you need to know someone to get into them, most are run by one of the D3 sports teams so I can't network my way much, especially during COVID. Few people are interested so most banks don’t  really recruit here. Most alumni currently in banking are people who are the stereotypical privileged male of a specific group, so it has been unbelievable difficult to get them to like connect. I don't know what I can do at this point, I am thinking of putting in some apps so I can try to transfer again.

EDIT: Why would you give me Monkey Sh*t?  I just asked a question

Assuming this is CalTech or JHU? Chicago/Northwestern are Midwestern targets, Rice is a Texas target, Vandy has weird connections sporadically, can't think of anywhere else in the range.

If it's CalTech, 100% grind it out, do some quanty-type or heavy science research, and network with anyone who has a background in the same field as you at a high level -- i.e. if you study math & do research, network with alums + bankers with advanced math degrees, or same thing with biomedical stuff etc.

If it's JHU, you probably need to focus on getting into IB first. Probably easiest to get into healthcare IB from JHU & lateral if that's not the group you want, as the story will be easy to spin & anyone remotely in the healthcare field respects JHU. You've already transferred once, and honestly transferring twice (From place A to Top 10 school to other elite school) will be a bit odd without some more compelling reason than what you're saying here.
