Stern Kids Get Hired, But Struggle to Get Promoted? Industry Truth or Myth?

Had this professor at Stern freshman year who said something along the lines of Stern kids don't have too much trouble getting hired; however, they do have a hard time getting promoted in their careers, and that is something the school is trying to work on. From people in the industry who have worked with Stern kids over the years, do you find this to be true, and if so, why do you think that is? What sort of characteristics do Sternies possess that make this the case?
