Study abroad sophomore summer?

For context, I’m a rising sophomore at a target currently interning at a small consulting firm. This summer, I had been accepted into a competitive study abroad program—of course, this was canceled due to COVID-19. I have the option of doing the program next summer (sophomore summer) instead.

Would it be unwise to do the study abroad? I’ve heard it may be better to try to get an internship sophomore summer to make myself more marketable for junior summer internships.

Honestly I'd do the summer abroad- one of my friends did that and he ended up at a top BB. I think it makes you seem more interesting, and tbh most sophomore summer internships aren't that impactful. I did an internship my sophomore summer and I dont' think it really had any impact on my IB spot now. Also, most IB spots are filled end of sophomore year/sophomore sumemr, and earlier if you're diveristy, so you're most likely going to be interviewing without having that experience anyway.

Also- you can only study abroad in college, and everyone who goes says its a sick experience, and you'll have your whole life to intern/work...

So would you say junior year spring or fall after you receive your offer is a good time to study abroad?

i think that's the best time to do a study abroad- can get your IB offer and just fuck off to another country while getting internship experience your sophmore summer, but I don't think you will be screwing yourself by studying abroad the summer after your sophmore year.

Definitely a cool thing to do but I would try to get an internship during the school year if you’re doing this. you’re at a target so it won’t be hard to get interviews but a finance internship will always help.
