Target School Tier List for Consulting - 2025

Based on what I have seen / heard across tier 1 office MBB recruitment. Attended Ross for reference so very familiar with NYC and Chicago pipelines. Only iffy on Penn (could be higher?) and Cornell (could be lower for MBB).

Tier 1: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, MIT

Tier 2: Penn, Columbia, Northwestern, Duke

Tier 3: UChicago, Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell, Michigan Ross

Tier 4: WashU, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, UVA

Tier 5: USC, Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, UC Berkeley

Tier 6: NYU Stern, IU Kelley, UCLA, UT Austin, UNC

The entire tier 6 list shouldn’t exist unless tier 6 stands for non-target. None of those schools have MBB presence on campus, and I believe stern only does for their MBA program, not undergrad.

nahh because of booth they have a massive alumni base in mbb. they place well in finance, quant, and consulting

Tiers 1-3 look accurate. However would bump Cornell down, combine tiers 4-5 (Cal and ND are the same level as the schools on tier 4), and push USC and Hopkins down to tier 6.
