From what I understand NONE of the big consulting firms (even Big-4s) will recruit from PT programs for MC. Som of the tier-2, 3 firms will, but you have to be really exceptional candidate for them to even consider you for an internview. I'm an engineer too thinking about career switch to MC. I was thinking about PT since NYU/ CBS have PT programs and I wouldn't have to give up 2 years of income but after talking to their career service folks and other ppl I've decided to pursue FT programs when my time comes. It may be a little easier go be considered for the rotational programs but even those will be tough. See if your company has any rotational program.

Yeah Columbia's EMBA is part-time which is what I was talking about. Certainly requires a bit more experience than NYU's PT MBA program.
I can't speak to the corporate leadership programs you're talking about, but for MC, PTMBA isn't going to cut it. Especially not at the satellite campus of UT, or even at the main campus at Rice. Maybe a lower tier firm.
I was just at a networking event for my firm where PTMBAs and Exec MBAs were present. All of their information went straight to the "Thanks for inquiring!" pile.
lol rarely do networking event mean much. those recruiters have to say the same Hello line for 50-200 times. maybe a note or two on the resume is helpful, but it's still an awful lot

UT Austin has Houston part-time MBA. McCombs network will probably be stronger.
