Top Tier IB/MBB to MBA to Top Tier IB/MBB???

I'm a bit confused about something. According to this forum, Harvard and Stanford are super competitive and for us business types, you need to be GS/MS/JPM IB level or MBB to have a good chance to get in. However, other than the people who get PE post-MBA, aren't the top jobs that people recruit for in MBA top tier IB and MBB? Are these studs going and paying $200k for the brand name and getting pretty much the same jobs they already had?

Essentially, yes. Incoming MBB people are sponsored and get their MBAs paid for/return to their firms. Most people in IB want to pivot to MBB or PE
