Transfer to Target School

Currently planning on transferring as a rising junior this next application cycle to a target school with OCR / strong alumni network and was looking at Stanford, Yale, Penn CAS (not eligible for Wharton as a junior transfer), Georgetown, and Cornell, although I'm deciding between Cornell CAS and AEM in Dyson. I'd prefer AEM but I've heard it's even more difficult than CAS to get into. I know they're all long shots but I'm wondering if anyone has pulled it off and can share their experiences or is willing to give advice. I'm definitely going to try recruiting and networking at my current school for now but I'm having difficulty finding alumni (one of the reasons I want to transfer). Also if anyone has suggestions on deciding between CAS and AEM that would be great. Thanks!

I was in a similar situation and was able to transfer from a semi-target to a target going into my sophomore year. I did this for many of the similar reasons you outlined. I would say to definitely go into the process with strong conviction as to exactly why you want to transfer. I had many moments of doubt in the thick of the process, and even after getting in and having to decide whether or not to leave.

I have heard AEM is incredibly difficult to get into, but I do know a couple of people personally who made it into CAS for transfer. Would be happy to share more specific advice but both would be solid from a recruiting perspective (not sure how that would play into your timeline transferring in junior year, though).
