UVa probably places best in both MBB and IB out of the above schools. Pick the schools you like the most and also factor in student debt. If you are instate for U mich it makes no sense going to UVA etc.
all of them will
actually, check with some of the similar questions (UG school comparisons). read a few, get a feel and you'll be much comfortable.
my instate options were clemson or univ. of south carolina, and i'm assuming - correct me if i'm wrong- that neither would be desirable
Yes, Clemson and South Carolina are both non-targets.
Honestly, it's a toss-up between Michigan and UVA. Choose whichever is cheaper.
you'll have similar options from all three - choose based on cost/fit
i've read that northwestern stands out with consulting; do the others compare favorably?
Imo, Northwestern is, by far, the best option for an overall undergraduate program and offers great opportunities (I don't go there so I don't know). In my experience in recruiting, I've seen one UVA person and a few Umich Ross school kids. Both are target programs, but since both schools are so big, it would be hard to be part of the few kids that get great offers. In any normal distribution with that many kids, there will be some great outliers. However, if you think you are the best, it don't matter.
And I didn't go to any of these schools. So, take everything I just said with a grain of salt.
