Career Resources
Current undergrad here... but know that there’s recruiting at BofA, MS, GS, Barclays, JPM and then also WF, Jeff etc. for NY. Not impossible to get Citi, CS, RBC etc either. Not sure on boutiques (not much there recruiting for undergrads) but I believe Evercore, Guggenheim and a few others do recruiting as well. Ton of recruiting in the south as well.
UNC has 4 or 5 people at Evercore. All from MBA. 0 from undergrad.
IB placement from schools in that range is respectable for people with citizenship/residency but very, very difficult as an international.
Their employment report shows that the MBA program sent at least 3 people to: GS, MS, JPM, BoA, Barclays, Wells Fargo, Harris Williams, Houlihan. They also placed at least 1 person at: Evercore, SunTrust, BMO, Citi, Macquire, Jefferies.
this is true but look what % of those went to citizens vs internationals. and then from the internationals, how many were from LatAm, were women, or were from cultures viewed as "prestigious" (like west europe). Those school will quote internationals the overall placement but are very unwilling to offer specifics. IB as an international from East or South asia is extremely difficult in mBA
Looks like JPM and BoA were the only 2 to take someone that "did not have permanent US work authorization."
In general, it's a lot harder for foreign Indians to get placed in IB at MBA programs. Not trying to get into the reasons why that is, but this is based on observation from MBA and working in banking.
You're going to have to hustle a little harder than the rest to get placed. It could help your odds if you can find a pre-MBA internship where you can intern and start developing the skillset. Also focus a lot on soft skills/networking - one way is to meet people you know and learn about it from them.
It can be done, just not as easy.
I'm very familiar with unc's MBA program. It is very difficult for international indians to snag one of the few sponsored ib associate spots. I would recommend going somewhere better if you can.
