Undergraduate BOCCONI vs OTHER TARGET SCHOOLS
I'm considering attending Bocconi BIEF for UG
I would love to go into IB in London or in the USA after graduating. Is going to Bocconi enough or is it worth to try applying to other universities?
My SAT score is 1500 and I'm about to do another trial soon.
IELTS score: 7.0
If you want to work in the US, you have to go to a US school (unless you’re a US citizen). Otherwise, Bocconi is solid for London IB
Thank you so much for the answer!
can you suggest me some universities where I can try applying, so that I will start considering all the requirements they ask for?
US target schools are the Ivies (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, UPenn, Dartmouth, Cornell, Brown, Columbia), Stanford, MIT, NYU Stern, UMich Ross, and Georgetown. Apply to some of them, your SAT is good enough to give you a decent shot, assuming the rest of your profile is strong as well
In Europe, you should also take a look at Oxbridge, LSE, UCL, Warwick, and Imperial
Since I live in Milan I don’t think is worth it to move to another city in Europe, is it?
Instead going to a school in the USA would be a completely different story, especially in terms of opportunities.
And I also have another question, is the difference in terms of fees and tuition justified by anything (in Bocconi for example I would pay 24000€ per year including tuition and living)
A school like LSE/Oxford has a great amount of international reputation, while Bocconi isn't very well known outside of Western Europe. The top UK targets will also give you slightly better recruiting opportunities. Bocconi is great though, so if it is significantly cheaper thank the top UK schools, you should definitely go there. As for the US targets, they generally are better known internationally, and you would be able to also recruit for EU jobs from them. However, be aware that they are a lot more expensive and that it is getting increasingly difficult for international students to find companies willing to sponsor a work visa. So going to the US for you would be a high risk/high reward situation. Just my $0.02, but as a European at a US target going into NYC IBD, I honestly think it would be better for you to stay in Europe for undergrad. Things are a bit tense for international students in the US right now, so it would be safer for you to do your undergrad in Europe, work in London IB for a few years, and then transfer to the NY office if you still really want to work in the US.
You should definitely read up on h1b visas for the US, that’s literally the main reason I’m not gonna apply. High reward, yes but extremely high risk if you’re an international student who can’t afford complete cost of tuition.

Bocconi will set you up very well for a LDN IB job, but not a US one. The visa issue in the US is very tricky and US firms have plenty of top candidates in the US to source from.
If you want LDN IB, Bocconi would work. You may want to throw an app into Oxbridge as it will open up the int'l scene a bit more as Bocconi is more W Europe based.
If you want US, look at all the top 15 US programs, esp the ones in the North East for a good setup into banking.
Good luck!!!

Hey! One recommendation which is close to the bocconi BIEF is the IBA at the RSM. It is a similar program with great rep at the fraction of the price. Definitely worth taking a look. All the best and can answer any questions you can have!
