Undergraduate GPA and class rank for Msc. Finance
I'm preparing myself to apply to top European Msc. Finance programs. Some British schools say that you should have a minimum of 2:1 (or 3.5 GPA).
I'm from Brazil, from a non-target school. My GPA is 3.2 but I'm 2nd in a class of 50. The HIGHEST GPA (1st in class rank) in class is around 3.4. We had some problems with some professors during the sophomore year and they really fucked us.
Will the admission committee at least consider my class rank? Suppose I aim for at least 720 GMAT. Ignore the rest of my profile, suppose a "not-exceptional" one.
Edit: (Actually my GPA is 7.93/10. Is 3.2/4 correct? The only resource I used gave me this number, so...).
you don't need to convert it to a 4 scale gpa. Look for the specific requirements for your country (eg LSE asks for 8/10 if you come from brazil)
Hi Merlo97,
It seems that Warwick considers "A score of 7.5 or 75 from a well ranked public institution is considered comparable to a UK 2.1", while Oxford doesn't say anything about specific countries other than the US.
They actually say that "If your degree uses a different grading system, you do not need to 'convert' your grades to the UK or US system when you apply. The academic department will determine how your academic background compares to the course's entry requirements in assessing your application. However, if you're unsure whether your academic qualifications meet Oxford's minimum grade requirements, you can contact the academic department for advice using the contact details on the course page."
I'm really worried about this. I'll contact them. It can't be that because of 0.07 points I'll be damned. Thanks anyway.
