Maths and stats at leeds, economics at exeter, or year out and reapply to econ and finance at bristol????? (3 A's at a level)
URGENT HELP IS NEEDED I AM USELESS AT THIS STUFF
Honestly I’d say take econ at Exeter. Gap year not worth it unless you’ve got it alr planned out. I took a gap year and went to lots of places so had fun, my friend took a gap year last minute and lost his sanity being bored at home for months at a time.
Main thing is to start applying for spring weeks now. Some have alr come out and you should keep an eye out for what else comes out. Apply as soon as they come out - check Bristol tracker.
The incremental benefit of going to Bristol (if any at all, probably highly debatable) is not worth taking the gap year in my view. Otherwise, sort of a push and up to how well you can network. Both universities have representations at most IBs so it’s really how resourceful you can be.
I would agree with the above commenter that the incremental benefit of going to Bristol is not worth taking out. However it would be worth taking a year out if you think you could get into Oxbridge, Imperial, LSE or Warwick.
With Leeds and Exeter - you still have a decent shot at breaking into IB, you just need to make sure that your grades are near to / top of class and you have very strong finance-related extracurriculars (e.g. try and become President of Finance Society etc.)
