Uni decision
Hello everyone, I'm currently a high school senior, and I'm debating my uni choices and hope someone can help me.
Bocconi University 3y econ and finance 1700 euro/month
Edinburgh University 4y Finance with business 1400 pounds/month
University college london and I have one of two paths
A. Stats econ and finance with the gov scholarship the con being I'll have to live off of 1400 pounds a month in london
B.Statistics major with a local uni scholarship (I'll study stats at UCL for 4y then come back and do a 1.5y Statistics masters) pro being me having upwards of 3k a month during my studies
So my question is, which of these is the best for me if I wanna break into IB or asset management and also is a Statistics major good or it's gonna be too far/theoretical for IB/PE/AM etc. Any advice is welcome, and thanks in advance
Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights to help you make your decision:
Bocconi University (3 years, Economics and Finance, 1700 euros/month)
Edinburgh University (4 years, Finance with Business, 1400 pounds/month)
University College London (UCL)
Advice: - Relevance to IB/Asset Management: - Economics and finance programs (Bocconi and UCL Path A) are directly aligned with the skills needed for IB and asset management. - A statistics major (UCL Path B) is also valuable, especially for roles that require strong quantitative skills, but you might need additional finance-specific experience.
Networking and Internships:
Cost of Living:
Conclusion: - If you prioritize a strong finance network and direct relevance to IB/asset management, UCL Path A or Bocconi might be the best choices. - If you value a higher monthly allowance and are comfortable with a more quantitative focus, UCL Path B could be a good option. - Edinburgh is also a solid choice, especially if you prefer a longer program with a balanced focus on finance and business.
Ultimately, the best choice depends on your personal preferences, financial situation, and career goals.
