Using a recruiter during B School?

I'm starting a full-time MBA next year and someone referred me to a recruiter that looks to place people in my desired post-MBA field of healthcare consulting. After mentioning that I am not interested in new roles at the moment since I'll be going back to school next fall the recruiter mentioned she would like to stay in touch since she could help place me in a relevant role at graduation.

What is the protocol in this type of situation? My thinking is that if the firm does OCR then you can't use the recruiter, but if no relationship is established with the school then it's fair game. Is my thinking correct?

Congrats on the bschool acceptance, where are you going to school? There's no hard and fast rule that you can't talk to recruiters when you are recruiting in school. Keep in touch with the recruiter, he/she will forward you opportunities you'd be interested in. If you think there will be a conflict with on-campus recruiting policy, you can just disregard that job opportunity.

Your school will have the best recruiting options hands down while you are at school. However, keeping headhunters' contacts in your rolodex is always smart as they may have other options for you in the future, near or far.

Thanks all. I'll keep in touch with her.

Kelvin - Haven't decided yet. Have a couple acceptances and will hear back from the rest by the end of the month. Most are in the 10-20 range.

Agree with some of the other posts. The school will have the best options to land the job but the recruiter will be good later one for the second job
