UT Mccombs vs Berkeley Haas

Hey guys,

I got accepted into Mccombs (in state), non BHP. I also applied to Berkeley's Global Management Program (direct Haas admit), but was accepted as a College of Letters and Science admit, where I would have to apply to Haas during the fall of my sophomore year (30% acceptance rate). I would like to try and get a job in investment banking or consulting. Is it worth the risk of not getting into Haas, or should I stay instate at Mccombs? How hard is it to get in Haas after 2 years? Cost isn't a major factor.

Mccombs Pros: Instate close to home Already admitted into business school More of a fun school

Berkeley Pros: Could get into Haas (known worldwide) Better job opportunities Program is great if accepted to Haas

Haas student here. I faced a similar dilemma when I was a senior. When you first come here, people tend to think it's Haas or bust, but you'll quickly see that's not the case at all. Plenty of Econ majors get jobs at top tier firms for both IB and consulting. Just browse Linkedin for a bit, and you'll see. Anyone from Cal would also agree. Beyond that, Berkeley is a much bigger, international name than UT. I'd say go with Berk.
