UVA McIntire ---> Top MBA Programs

I am interested in working for 2-4 years after graduation and then attending a top MBA Program (Harvard, Wharton,Booth, Standford). I am an African American male and currently attend UVA's McIntire School of Commerce. Around what minimum GPA and gmat score should I have upon graduation ( I am a rising senior) to give me a good chance at attending those schools. I have summer internship experience on Wall Street, but I am unsure where ( location and company) I will choose to work upon graduation.

I am a finance and accounting major. Will attaining a CFA or CPA increase my chances? Any other tips or information to increase my chances of gaining admissions to those schools are welcome.

Thanks!

Thanks,

As long as I work at top firms (in NY and DC) within their respective industry I should be fine? Or are their specific companies that increase your chances?

Get the best GPA that you possibly can. This will help with both full-time recruiting and possible business school placement. Also, and especially since you're a black guy, a high GMAT score could help you immensely.

Do certain companies "increase the odds"? Yes. Working for a Goldman or a McKinsey will always look great on a resume, but I'm not necessarily sure it should drive your decision more than other possible factors.

Why are you so focused on getting an MBA when you haven't really worked out there in the world yet? You might find that you enjoy your job, or you might end up at a place where having an MBA is unnecessary.
