UVA vs Rice college decision

I’m down to these two schools. Rice is on the up and up with their new UG business school, and I’ve heard it’s very easy to break into ib from there compared to other schools. I also like the small class sizes and being in Texas as per my name I’m from Kansas. Rice is known for grade inflation and the ability to major in at least two majors is well know, if not three.

That being said, UVA seems to be a sure fire target but I have to get into the McIntire school of commerce and it has less prestige than Rice. I’m wondering if it would be smart to go to Rice for a year then submit transfer applications to top of the line schools and apply directly to the school of commerce post freshman year. Thanks.

Rice is fantastic, but i'd say the alumni reach and resources, while growing tremendously, still can't quite reach UVA's alumni network (non-Texas) and preparatory resources. Still, I think Rice students have been doing a great job in closing that gap, so maybe by the time your a sophmore, it will be much closer, although I don't think you should base your college decision on which one gives you the slight edge in IB recruiting. It is doable from both schools, so pick the one you actually like the most.
