Warwick Business School
Hi,
This may sound like an “amateur” question, but is Warwick Business School Masters in Finance and Managerial Programs a target for Investment Banks. How would WBS compare to Oxbridge and LSE ?

No it isn't a target.
From what I've seen, placement into IB from non-LSE/LBS/Ox MFin (and some others like Camb and Imp), drops off like a rock. As in the placements are fewer, worse and often go to those already with experience anyway.
Ohh okay, I get it. But what makes the cut? I’ve talked to a couple of alumni from Warwick and they say majority of their cohort secured IB internships
Idk what you mean by what makes the cut. What I've said is what I've said.
If you have info that contradicts that then your info is as good as mine.
Hi nutmegger189,
Oh no don't get me wrong! When I asked what makes the cut, I was asking about what is the metric that makes some applications to Internships better than others? Is it JUST the "Brand" of the university? If it comes down to Experience v/s University Branding which would be weighed more?
Idk why I got so much MS. Maybe I phrased that badly. All I was saying is I've said what I think I know, if you know differently then feel free to go with your available information. FYI Warwick performs very differently at undergrad level.
For internships, probably brand name wins. But of course it rarely is that simple. Obviously in actuality the choice is made from a quick assessment of a combination of factors including but not limited to your experience and university. I mean, all of this mostly just matters for getting to interview stage. Beyond that, the outcome is what you make of it.
Do you have any previous experience? Are you aware of the rigorous application process? Do you have a good CV before coming to your Master? If yes, then you will easily bag many interviews and offers from MSc Finance at WBS. If no, you will not stand a chance against your peers or people at LBS, LSE etc.
I have friends that did MSc Finance at WBS who received many offers from elite funds / top BB but all were overall very very strong candidates to begin with
